The Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has presented enlistment letters to successful candidates of the Ogun TEACh programme, an initiative of the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration.
The scheme, introduced by the present government, was designed as a teacher internship programme to bridge manpower gaps in public Primary and Secondary Schools, as well as Technical Colleges across the State.
Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission, Apostle 'Biodun Sanyaolu during the presentation ceremony, at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, explained that the letters were issued in batches to candidates who had been duly screened and met all the requirements of the programme.
He pointed out that the interns would serve on a temporary basis for two years, during which they would gain valuable teaching experience and contribute to improving the quality of education in the State, adding that consideration for permanent appointments would be based on their performance during the internship.
Apostle Sanyaolu further emphasised that the interns would be deployed to rural Secondary Schools and would not be allowed to request transfers, stressing that their commitment and diligence were key to achieving the objectives of the programme.
“Teaching is a noble profession which you must take seriously. You should be ready to serve in rural areas and strictly comply with the rules and regulations guiding the scheme,” he charged them.
Responding on behalf of other interns, Mr. Timothy Poheto, from Ipokia Local Government and Mr. Adeyemi Adebayo from Ijebu East Local Government expressed gratitude to the State government for the opportunity, pledging their dedication to strengthening the education sector through the internship programme.
