Shooting Stars, Katsina Utd Loss At Home As 2025/2026 NPFL Kicks Off



Shooting Stars Sports Club and Katsina United Football Club were defeated at home in their respective matches, as new 2025/2026 season of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) kicked-off over the weekend 

The Oluyole Warriors are currently in the 19th position with zero point after the defeat in Ibadan on Sunday by the visiting Bayelsa United of Yenegoa in the third position with three points while returnees Warri Wolves are currently on the fourth position with three points after their win on the road against home side Katsina United who currently occupy 17th position with zero point 

Defending champions, Remo Stars of Ikenne-Remo and Rivers United of Port- Harcourt had earlier in the opening match of the new elite league season played at the newly refurbished MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, settled for a one- all draw 

With the result, the Skye Blue Stars and visiting Rivers United are in the sixth and seventh positions respectively with one point each 

El-Kanemi Warriors are currently top on the table with three points after their 2-0 win in Maiduguri against visiting Bendel Insurance of Benin-city who are at the bottom of the table with zero point 

Abia Warriors are closely placed second with three points after their hard-earned lone-goal home win against Kano Pillars occupying 16th position with zero point 

Returnees Wikki Tourists are in the fourth position with three points after a narrow one-nil win in Bauchi against Plateau United of Jos who are occupying 18th position with zero point 

Debutants, Barau Football Club of Kano and former champions, Enyimba International of Aba are in the eight and tenth positions respectively with one point each, after both sides ended their encounter in a goal less draw 

Similarly another former champions Enugu Rangers were held to a goal less by debutants Kun Khalifat, as both teams are occupying ninth and 12th positions with a point each 

Also Kwara United and visiting Ikorodu city of Lagos settled for a goal less draw in Ilorin, as both teams with a point each are occupying 13th and 11th positions respectively 

The match between Niger Tornadoes of Minna and Nasarawa United of  Lafia will hold on Wednesday
