BUK Elevates 25 Academic Staff To Rank Of Professor

No fewer than 25 academic staff members from the Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies (FAIS), Bayero University, Kano, have been elevated  to the rank of professor in recognition of their dedication and contributions to the institution’s educational development.

Those honoured during a colourful ceremony held on Tuesday included 

Prof. Aminullahi Adamu Elgambari (Islamic Studies and Shari’ah), Prof. Halima Abdulkadir Dangambo (Nigerian Languages), ß. Haruna Muhammad Hadejia (Arabic), and Prof. Husaini Muhammad Lawal (Arabic)

Others included Prof. Ibrahim M. Samimi (Maitubushira Studies and Shari’ah Islamic), Prof. Jamila Abdullahi (Arabic), Prof. Mathuli Shehu Kabara (Arabic), and Prof. Maryam Mansur Yola (Nigerian Languages) as reported by a local online media, SolaceBase 

Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Sagir Adama Abbas, in his remarks, congratulated the newly elevated professors, emphasizing that their promotions were not only personal achievements but also a testament to the University’s academic growth.

He highlighted that all 25 promotions were realized under his tenure, fulfilling a promise he made to the faculty during his 2020 visit.

“I pledged to increase the number of professors in this faculty, and I am glad to have achieved this,” he said.

Prof. Abbas reminded the professors of the significant responsibilities that come with their new status. He urged them to uphold academic excellence, mentor upcoming scholars, and actively engage in advancing their departments and the faculty.

Speaking on behalf of the new professors, Prof. Amina Adamu of the Department of English and Literary Studies and Prof. Ibrahim Maibushira of Islamic Studies and Shari’ah expressed gratitude to the faculty for organizing the event.

Prof. Amina noted with pride the growing number of female professors, which had risen from two in the previous event to six this year.

Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ibrahim Garba Saturima, also commended the Vice-Chancellor for fostering a supportive academic environment. He encouraged other staff members to aspire to similar advancements.

The ceremony underscored the university’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and the pivotal role of professorial leadership in shaping the institution’s future.
