Reigning Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL Champions, Remo Stars ended Lagos based side, Ikorodu City's chase for Continental ticket to play in the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) clubs competitions, after a 4-1 win in a week 37 match played on Sunday at Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State
The Skye Blues Stars who were playing their last league home match for the 2024/2025 season at Remo Stars Stadium , came from behind to draw level through Sikiru Alimi's strike in the 38th minute, canceling out Oyedokun's early goal in the 16th minute for the visiting Ikorodu City
The Daniel Ogunmodede tutored side grabbed second goal before the half time through Ibrahim in 41st minute to take the lead
The side consolidated with another goal in the 47th before Adedayo completed the demolition of the visitors in the 68th which put the match beyond the Ikorodu boys and ended their chase for a Continental ticket as they ended up with 56 points while Remo Stars further increased their points to 71, ending the last home match in a grand-style as the league champions
Second placed Rivers United of Port Harcourt with 61 points however fell to home side Kwara United who won 3-1 in Ilorin to occupy the 12th position with 50 points
Abia Warriors of Umuahia moved closer to competing for the CAF Champions League second slot on table after the champions Remo Stars' ticket
The third placed Abia Warriors defeated visiting El-kanemi Warriors of. Maiduguri 2-1 in a battle of Warriors to earn the needed three maximum points and 60 points with just a point separating the side from the Finidi George tutored side with 61 points
Both Rivers United and Abia Warriors have secured Continental tickets but the final week 38 match of the season will determine who pick the remaining CAF Champions League ticket and who will be left with CAF Confederation Cup slot in the league
El-kanemi Warriors currently in the 16th position with 46 points must win the last match of the season at home to survive relegation
Bendel Insurance of Benin city moved to the fifth position with 56 points after a marrow lone-goal win against visiting Heartland of Owerri who are still struggling to escape relegation in the 17th position with 45 points
Enyimba International of Aba currently in the sixth position with 55 points fell to the home side, Nasarawa United of Lafia who defeated them 3-2 to occupy ninth position with 52 points behind the seventh placed Kano Pillars with 53 points after their 3-1 win against Shooting Stars of Ibadan who dropped to the 11th position with 51 points
Former Champions, Enugu Rangers humiliated visiting Katsina United 4-0 to occupy the eight position on the table with 52 points, leaving the visitors in the 15th position with 47 points
Plateau United of Jos are currently in the tenth position with 51 points after their 2-1 win against relegated bottom placed side Lobi Stars of Markudi with just 25 points
Akwa United are still struggling in relegation water in the 18th position with 44 points , after their 2-0 win against visiting Bayelsa United of Yenegoa who are occupying 13th position with 49 points while Sunshine Stars of Akure joined Lobi Stars as relegated team, occupying 19th spot with just 41 points after their 1-2 loss at home to Niger Tornadoes of Minna who moved up to the 14th position with 48 points
