Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State
has expressed his appreciation to Babcock University for providing significant logistical support to the state in hosting the 2025 Gateway Games.
The event, which brings together approximately 10,000 athletes from 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, is the first of its kind for Babcock University serving as the Games Village.
Governor Abiodun during a visit to the university, praised the institution's efforts, stating that feedback received so far has been positive.
"I know there might be a few bumps here and there, but from the reports I have heard and what I have seen, things are moving in the right direction," he said.
The University's President/Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ademola Tayo represented by the Associate Vice President Student Support, Prof. Tolani Williams received the Governor and his entourage.
They arrived at the institution for an on-the-spot assessment of the logistical arrangements for the accommodation, feeding, and general well being of the athletes.
Other University staff who joined in receiving the governor were the Director of Babcock Security Services, Dr. Chukwumah Ajike, Director of Protocol and Logistics, Mr. Isaac Osuntade, and Director of Food and Catering Services, Dr. Feyisayo Alade.
Dr. Alade told the high powered delegation that meals were served to athletes and officials on time and in a top hygienic environment.
The University will also serve as the venue for all the indoor games.
The 2025 Gateway Games which opened officially on Sunday May 18, will be ending on May 30 with closing ceremonies
