Team-Bayelsa finished in third position with 92 gold, 65 silver and 80 bronze behind five consecutive winners, Team- Delta who won 126 gold, 100 silver and 111 bronze and host Team-Ogun in second position with 93 gold, 65 silver and 80 bronze while fourth placed Rivers State won 76 gold , 58 silver and 65 bronze and Edo State completed the top five states on the medal table with 73 gold, 101 silver and 119 bronze, Zamfara State finished at the bottom of the table with just a bronze
Governor Diri who made a brisk appearance at the closing ceremony of the games at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Kuto, Abeokuta, sparked wild jubilation as he visited the athletes and officials who getting set for the closing parade.
Led by the State Commissioner for Sports Development, Daniel Igali, the highly elated Governor Diri expressed satisfaction with the performance with entire team to the "Ogun 2024 Gateway Games"
"I am very happy with your performance in this games,it shows the spirit of the true Bayelsan, so I am dropping twenty million naira for you now to appreciate your determination and resilience.
The governor added that the preparation for the 2026 Sports Festival to be hosted in Enugu State starts now.
Meanwhile host Team-Ogun completed its dominance in the Handball events at the games, winning gold on the last day of the Nigeria's biennial sports festival
Ogun Male Handball side eventually won gold after defeating hard-fighting opponents from neighbouring Lagos State 16--18
Heavy rain had twice disrupted the final played at the Alake Sports Complex Ijeja in Abeokuta both on Wednesday and Thursday
The game saw Ogun having a slight advantage in opening half 8-7 before their hard earned win to clinch gold medal, just as their female side did against Sokoto ladies finishing top with 38-34
