Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved Issuance of letters of permanent employment to additional 1,000 teachers under its OgunTeach Scheme to compliment the existing teachers in public primary and secondary schools in the state, just as he declared Monday 7th of October as public holiday for teachers in the state
Governor Abiodun announcing the appointment and release of employment letters to beneficiaries on Saturday during the celebration of 2024 World Teachers' Day in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, said that the latest addition brings the total number of teachers employed under the teaching experience scheme to 4,000 in the past five years of his administration
He added that the move was part of measures being taken by government to address the teachers to learners ratio in classrooms , assuring that his administration would continue to create conducive working and learning environment in public schools
The governor who later presented the symbolic letter of employment to one of the beneficiaries, equally approved transport allowances for teachers in public schools and upward review of allowances for teachers in rural areas, so as to cushion the effect of economic challenges in the country
He added that special intervention fund had been approved to support provision of more infrastructure in public schools
Governor Abiodun assured the teachers of his government's plan to give laptop computer to each of the teachers to enhance online teaching and learning initiative of the government
