The Ogun State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has congratulated the Chairman, Remo Stars football Club, Otunba Kunle Soname and management of the club for its back to back Champions League ticket as one of Nigeria's representatives at the CAF prestigious clubs competition
Remo Stars football Club of Ikenne finished second behind Rangers football Club in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table with 65 points from 38 matches which is the club's second consecutive time, having finished second in the 2023 season behind Enyimba International of Aba
The State Chairman of SWAN,Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji in In a congratulatory message, said the return of the club to the continent was as result of adequate preparation and hardwork.
Comrade Ogunsiji who noted that the consistency of the club on the continent showed some level of planning, said there was the need for the club management to improve on the striking position to enable the club move beyond the first round of the money spinning CAF Champions League.
"We want to congratulate the Chairman of Remo Stars football Club, Otunba Kunle Soname, management and the entire coaching crew for picking the ticket to represent Nigeria at the CAF Champions League",
"The team's qualification was well deserved having amassed 65 points from 38 matches, it is our desire and prayer to see the club playing in the group stage of the competition and possibly win the trophy.", he stated
Ogunsiji said the qualification of the club would further enhance productivity, the socio economic activities in not just Ikenne but also the adjourning communities.
SWAN, therefore, used the occasion to urge the newly promoted feeders team of the club, Beyond Limits Football Academy to the NPFL to sustain the momentum and winning mentality in the just concluded NNL season.
The association stressed that, it would be a delight to watch both Ogun state based teams competing for honours in the NPFL next season.
The SWAN Chairman, however, charged other football clubs such as Gateway United Football Club, Stormers Sporting Club, and Dino FC to strive hard in gaining promotion to the NPFL and NNL next season respectively.
