NPFL: Remo Stars,Enyimba Join Rangers In Grabbing CAF Tickets As Sporting Lagos, Doma Utd Relegate To NNL

Remo Stars Football Club of Ikenne-Remo in Ogun State and Enyimba International of Aba have joined newly crowned champions, Enugu Rangers as flag bearers in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup for next season, after finishing in the second and third positions respectively at the end of round of 38 matches played on Sunday for the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL 

The Skye Blues side picked their second consecutive Champions League ticket after a hard earned 2-1 win at the Remo Stars International Stadium in Ikenne-Remo against visitors, Katsina United, courtesy of two first half goals from Ismail in the 19th minute before Dayo Ojo doubled the lead in the 29th minute while Katsina United finished in the seventh position with 55 points got a consolatory goal in the 77th minutes 

The Daniel Ogunmodede tutored side finished second  with 65 points behind champions Enugu Rangers who ended the season on a winning note with 70 points, after a two/nil win on the road against relegated bottom placed Gombe United with 25 points 

In Aba , former champions, Enyimba International are placed third with 63 points after their 2-0 win against visitors, Plateau United who remained in the fifth position with 58 points while the fourth placed Shooting Stars of Ibadan with 62 points, confirmed the relegation of Sporting Lagos who finished in the 17th position with 46 points after their lone-goal loss in Ibadan 

Lobi Stars of Makurdi remained in the sixth position with 58 points after their 2-3 loss to the homeside, Kano Pillars are placed on the 11th spot with 52 points

In Uyo, Akwa United escaped relegation, finishing in the 16th position with 49 points,after their emphatic 3-1 win against Rivers United currently in the in the eighth position with 53 points while Bayelsa United of Yenegoa also escaped relegation finishing in the 15th position with 50 points after impressive 2-0 win against the homeside, Bendel Insurance FC of Benin who ended the season in ninth position with 53 points 

Sunshine Stars FC of Akure remained in the tenth position with 52 points after losing to the homeside ,  Niger Tornadoes of Minna who narrowly won .
 2-1 in Minna to finish in 14th position with 51 points while Doma United of Gombe who are placed in the 18th position with 44 points were relegated to the second tier Nigeria National League (NNL), after their one-all draw at home to Abia Warriors who finished in the 12th position with 52 points 

The Warriors however have another opportunity to secure continental ticket for CAF confederation cup , if  they are able to defeat El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in the final of President/ Federation Cup 

In  Ilorin Kwara United thrashed already helpless relegated  Heartland of Owerri 4-0 who remained in the 19th position with 38 points while the Afonja Warriors ended their campaign in the top flight league in the 13th position with 51 points
