Event Vendors Call For Review Of Nigeria's School Curriculum To include Events Management









Event Vendors in Nigeria have called on Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC)to review of the school curriculum to include Events planning and allied services as part of subject to be taught in schools. 

President of Association of Event Vendors Nigeria (ASSEV), Mrs Stella Arome,  made the call during ASSEV Corporate Social Responsibility Career talk organized recently for pupils of Ogudu Primary School, Ogudu, Lagos. 

The Arome who is also CEO of Laurel Events Ltd, added that event industry practitioners include encompawsses event planners, venue decorators, hall and event centre owners, comperes, catering and food service providers, etc apart from providing employment are contributing to the country’s GDP.”

 “From corporate or social event, large - scale international conferences, exhibition and trade fair, to intimate wedding , festivals, and birthday celebration, the Nigeria’s event industry has continued to grow rapidlay and attract recognition and awards”, she stated 

“The essence of ASSEV corporate social responsibility is to create more awareness, catch them young and raise the next generation of skilled manpower” Arome stated. 

Similarly, Mrs Patricia Osazuwa, CEO Perfect Events (Chairperson Planning Committee) noted that “ one of the challenges bedevilling the Nigerian event industry is the lack of regulatory framework and standardization in the industry. 

“Another challenge is inaccessibility to capital funding which hampers individual practitioners from expanding their businesses. This has resulted in the scarcity of skilled manpower in the event industry.”

Also speaking, the Chairman Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe noted that the future of Nigeria event industry looks bright, and with the support and patronage of the govt , the industry is poised for greater growth in the future” he stated.
