Olowu, Obasanjo Endorse Ogun Govt's Initiative On Regeneration Of Ibara GRA





Olowu of Owu kingdom, Oba (Professor) Saka Adelola Matemilola and Nigeria's former president , Chief Olusegun Obasanjo have joined the growing list of stakeholders endorsing Ogun State Government's initiative  to create a new Abeokuta, the state capital through the Ibara GRA Regeneration Scheme

The monarch who spoke during the advocacy organised by the State Ministry of Housing led by its Commissioner, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi to the Olowu Traditional Council at the Olowu palace in Oke- Ago Owu, Abeokuta. thanked Almighty God for the peaceful atmosphere being enjoyed in the State, expressing delight that such a laudable project is happening during his reign.

 He promised to give necessary support to the project.

Similarly, the Balogun of Owu-Kingdom , Chief Olusegun Obasanjo going down memory lane, said that the old Ibara GRA was created to accommodate civil servants from the old Western region lamenting that the structure does not confirm with urban renewal programme 

Obasanjo further stated that Abeokuta which was known as headquarter should enjoy more developmental and legacy projects not leaving other parts of the State.

He implored the State government to ensure roads that link the GRA  is upgraded. 

The State Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi had earlier 
emphasised that the idea behind the new Ibara GRA is to bring  total transformation geared towards enhancing economic value of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the Traditional Council, Olotu of Owu kingdom, Chief Ogo Oluwa Bankole and Chief Michael Ogunseye of Owu Heritage UK respectively, appreciated Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration for initiating the Scheme, advising the government to be transparent about the project.
