SSANU Accuses 23 Universities Of Not Paying Arrears Of Current Minimum Wage After Five Years

Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) has accused 23 public universities of not paying the arrears of the current minimum wage since 2018 when the wage was approved ,and implemented by the Federal Government

National President of SSANU, Comrade Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim who revealed this in a communique, issued at the end of union's recent National Executive Council (NEC)meeting held on the campus of  the Federal University of Technology in Akure, listed the affected universities to include Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike,( Abia State), Federal Univesity, Dutsima (Katsina State),  Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University,(Bauchi State), Federal University, Gashua, (Yobe State), Federal University Kashere, (Gombe State), University of Maiduguri (Borno State )and Modibo Adama University, Yola, (Adamawa State)

 Other universities according to the union, are University of Benin, (Edo State), College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Idi-Araba (Lagos State), University of Calabar (Cross River State), University of Uyo, (Akwa-Ibom State), Federal University of Lafia (Nasarawa State), Federal University, Lokoja, (Kogi State)  and University of Nigeria,Nsukka (Enugu State)

Also yet to pay the arrears of the current minimum wage are Nigeria French Language Village (Lagos State), Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike, (Ebonyi State), University of Illorin, Illorin, (Kwara State), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria ,(Kaduna State),  Taraba State University, Jalingo, Federal University, Gusau, (Zamfara State), Federal University, Birnin-Kebbi (Kebbi State), National Institute for Nigerian Languages, Aba, ( State), University of Lagos, (Lagos State), Nasarawa State University, Keffi, NASCAR awards State, Adamawa SOthersAbiatate University, Mubi,

"NEC in session observed that some of her members are yet to be paid arrears of the National Minimum Wage which was approved in 2018, despite the efforts of the Union. NEC therefore calls on Federal and State Governments to as a matter of urgency commence payment", the union stated
