Rivers Utd Beat Ghana's Dreams FC 2-1, Move To Q/Final Of CAF Confd Cup..Lobi Stars Return To Summit of NPFL



Nigeria's Rivers United of Port-Harcourt are through to the quarter final of the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup, after their narrow 2-1 win against visiting Ghanaian side, Dreams Football Club, just as Lobi Stars of Makurdi returned to the summit of Nigeria Premier Football League(NPFL)  after week 23 matches played on Sunday with 42points after their 2-0 victory over  Katsina United who are in the seventh position with 34points 

Kazie Godswill's last minute strike gave the Nigerian side the needed win against the tough Ghanaians who had earlier took the lead five minutes before the break through Abdul Aziz Issah before Echeta Deputy drew level for the Pride of Rivers after an hour mark in the encounter

With the result Nigerian side finished second with 12 points behind the Ghanian side with the same number of points but a better goals difference while Club Africain of Tunisia finished third with ten points after they were forced to a one-all draw by the visiting Academics do Lobito of Angola 

In Nigeria's top flight league, Plateau United of Jos, moved up the ladder behind leaders , with 41points , after similar 2-0 win against the visiting Bendel Insurance of Benin, who are currently in the ninth position with 31points while Enugu Rangers continued with their winning streak with a convincing 2-0 win on the road against homeside Niger Tornadoes of Minna

The Flying Antelopes have moved up to the third position with 40points after three consecutive wins against Doma United away and home victory over Remo Stars, while Niger Tornadoes are battling to survive relegation in the 17th position with 24points 

Remo Stars of Ikenne-Remo with an outstanding match to play, are now in the fourth position with 39points after their lone-goal win against visiting Bayelsa United of Yenegoa who are placed 15th with 27points while fifth placed Enyimba International of Aba with 39points will be taking their hosts , Akwa United of Uyo who currently struggling in relegation water in the 18th position with 21points 

Both sides will be using the week 23 match on Monday at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo to improve their fortune on the league table

Similarly on the same day, sixth placed Kano Pillars with 36 points will be locking horns with tenth placed visiting Abia Warriors with 30points while Doma United of Gombe occupying eight position with 32points will be battling with Sports Lagos who are in the 13th position with 27points in the other encounter

On Tuesday, relegation threatened, Gombe United in the 19th position with 21points will be hosting Shooting Stars of Ibadan currently in the 11th position with 30points while the match involving 16th placed Kwara United of Ilorin with 25points and 12th placed Rivers United with 27points will be played at a later date because of the Continental engagement of the Port Harcourt side 

Bottom placed Heartland of Owerri with 19points settled for a one-all draw with the visiting Sunshine Stars of Akure occupying 14th position with 27points
