Ogun Govt Resolves Misunderstanding With Theatre Practitioners Association

The rancour between the Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP) and the Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has been amicably resolved.

The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi who made this known in a statement made available to Edu-Biznews, said that the dispute was resolved during a meeting at the Conference Room, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

Fagbayi attributed the discord to a breach in communication between the Association and the Ministry, as regards a service charge of N20,000.00 requested from the Association, for the usage of a space at June 12 Cultural Centre and clarified that the fund was for maintenance of the facility and not the official rent rate.

He added that the meeting, which was the last of several that were held, had in attendance, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications, Otunba Dare Odufowokan; management of the Ministry, Governor of the Association, Mr. Bashiru Sanni and other representatives of ANTP, stated that the Commissioner was elated that it turned out to be fruitful.

"Both the Ministry and the Association are working towards the same goal of protection, preservation and promotion of culture in the state, which is one of the major goals of the present administration. Hence, the need for peaceful coexistence between the Ministry and her stakeholders, cultural associations and organisations. Working together will fast track the realization of this goal", he concluded in the  statement
