Agosasa Obaship Tussle:Ogun Assembly Calls For Govt's Immediate Intervention

Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on the State Government to prevail on security agencies to ensure the deployment of armed security personnel to Agosasa community in Ipokia Local Government Area of the State to restore peace and orderliness thereby protecting lives and properties of residents in the area.

The resolution followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by the member representing Ipokia/Idiroko State Constituency, Hon. Adebisi Oyedele shortly after he reported the recent civil unrest at Agosasa.

Hon. Oyedele said that he was deeply concerned about the recent chaos and unrest that had plagued Agosasa community, leading to escalating violence and instability threatening the safety and well-being of the residents.

He reported that the conflict was as a result of the installation and coronation of the Oba of Agosasa which was opposed by some groups during a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

He called for a decisive action to restore peace and security, saying there was need to call upon the authorities, particularly the police to establish a permanent security base at Agosasa to address the situation.

The lawmaker equally implored all parties involved to prioritize dialogue and reconciliation as a means towards resolving their grievances and conflicts, saying "there is no price too high to pay for peace, and we must collectively work towards fostering harmony and understanding within our community".
