University Don Calls For Harmony Within Experts In The Built Sector





A don at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Prof. Alabi Awodele has called for harmony among experts in the built sector in Nigeria, describing constant rivalry among built professionals when preparing budget for projects, as retrogressive and unnecessary

The professor who was speaking in Abeokuta as a key note speaker during a public lecture organized by the Ogun State chapter of Nigeria Institution of Quantity Surveyors, in his speech, emphasized the use of thecnology by members while preparing their cost for projects execution 

Quantity Surveyor Ayoade Sorunke at the event marking the end of his tenure as chairman of the professional body and formal handing over to a new chairman, recalled his achievements while in office, particularly on human capital development 

 "in the two years that I served, among many other things, we were able to have a training on infrastructural development, something members can hold on to as their own, we did a lot of af advocacy", he stated 

The immediate former Chairman of the professional body added that his administration embarked on a advocacy visit to the office of Secretary to the Ogun State Government to secure approval for allocation of land to the professional body, which according to him, was successful

"On the sucessfull advocacy was our visit to the SSG, we have been pursuing an allocation of land for a while, on that day, he just called the head of service and he got it approved for us", he added 

'We did the group life insurance for members, before now, we didn't have anything like that", he concluded
