Sen. Shuaib Salisu Unfolds Scholarship Awards For Best 600 Secondary School Students In Ogun Central





Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu has unfolded his plan for Scholarship Awards to the best 600 students in public secondary schools within Ogun Central Senatorial District

The Chairman Senate Committee On ICT and Cyber Security who unveiled the scholarship programme during a media parley over the weekend at Iwe-Irohin Oke-Ilewo Press Centre in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, said he the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology had been contacted to produce the list strictly based on their academic performances at the end of Senior School Certificate Examination which must  Credit in English Language and Mathematics

Salisu popularly known as 'SAS' assured the selected best 600 students of payment of their fees for the Unified Tertiary Institutions Matriculation Examination (UTME) to secure admission into various universities of their choice from where they will be monitored till the last day of their graduation

The senator accompanied by Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Hon (Dr) Folasade Adeyemo and former member of Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Ganiyu Oyedeji (Ifo two) recalled how he organized Information Communication Technology (ICT) training  amongst others for 50 selected youths who are provided with laptops for them to set up their respective business enterprises 




"I have also facilitated the setting up of Community ICT Centre at the Ogun State Technical Education College, Idi- Aba where set of people will be trained on the latest technology(ies) .As an ICT expert I know the importance of technology in development of the society",he stated

On one of the relevant bills sponsored by him at the Senate (Red Chamber), he gave an insight into the bill for  establishment of the proposed National Internship And Unemployment Scheme  to promote the welfare of unemployed graduates in Nigeria

The bill which has gone through first reading according to him, will provided opportunities for unemployed graduates to acquire relevant working experiences  under internship with corporate organizations where they will be later considered for permanent employment

He added that bill when passed and signed as an Act , would enable unemployment graduates to enjoy monthly stipends from government to keep body and soul together until they secure gainful jobs 




The former Chief of Staff to Governor Dapo Abiodun, expressed confidence that the bill when passed would reduce the crime rates particularly Cyber crimes among youths in the country

He also assured the leadership of the Ogun State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists led by Comrade Wale Olanrewaju of institutionalizing media awards to encourage hardworking practitioners in journalism in the state while expressing commitment to provision of solar lights, boreholes and distribution of electricity transformers across communities in Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Ewekoro, Odeda,  Obafemi -Owode and Ifo
