Rivers Utd Walk On Tight Rope For CAF Cup 4/Final, As Lobi Stars Regain Lead In NPFL



Nigeria's Rivers United Football Club of Port-Harcourt are still walking on tight rope to secure a place in the quarter final of the ongoing second tier CAF Confederation Cup, despite their winning 3-2 away from home against Angolan side, Academica do Lobito on Sunday in a group C match

The Nigerian side will also be praying that the Tunisian giants drop a point at home against the whipping side in the group, Academica who are languishing at the bottom of the table with no point

In Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Lobi Stars of Makurdi returned to the summit of the league with 39points after their lone-goal win against bottom placed Heartland of Owerri with just 18points after week 21 round of matches on Sunday 

Remo Stars despite not playing at home because of the Continental engagement of their opponents, Rivers United, are currently on second position with 36 points , ahead of third placed Kano Pillars with 36 points

The Kano side thrashed visiting Sunshine Stars of Akure in a six-goal thriller 5-1 to push the Gunners into the relegation water in the 17th position with 23points 

Enyimba International of Aba are occupying fourth position with 36points , after securing vital point on the road against Bendel Insurance of Benin who in the eight position with 31points while Plateau United of Jos are trailing behind in fifth position with 35points after their goal less draw against the visiting Shooting Stars of Ibadan who currently placed 12th on the table with 27points 

Enugu Rangers are occupying the sixth position with 34points after their descent lone-goal win on the road against homeside Doma United of Gombe who are just behind in the seventh position with 32points while Katsina United moved to ninth position with 31points after settling for a one-all draw with homeside Kwara United of Ilorin who are in the 13th position with 25points 

Abia Warriors are placed 11th on the table with 27points behind Rivers United, after their lone-goal loss to host, Niger Tornadoes of Minna who are occupying the 15th position with 24points while Gombe United inspire of their two -zero win against visiting Sport Lagos, are still swimming in the relegation water in the 19th position with 21points while the Lagos side are placed 14th on the table with 24points 

Bayelsa United of Yenegoa are gradually swimming out of the relegation water, as they moved to 16th position with 24points after their impressive lone-goal win against the homeside Akwa United of Uyo who are struggling in relegation water as they dropped to 18th position with 21 points
