A traditional ruler in Ogun State, the Onisare of Ijanna-Yewa in Yewa South Local Government Area, Oba Adigun Tajudeen Adesina has faulted the exit of some of the multi-national firms from Nigeria, saying they are not sincere to themselves for leaving the country
The multi-national companies had cited high operational cost arising from inadequate power supply, bad roods and poor state of infrastructure as major reasons for exiting the country
But Oba Adesina speaking with newsmen, accused the multi-national firms of not being sincered with themselves, adding that are used to corrupt system of doing things which is now changing because of policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose administration is putting the right policies in place to correct the abnormally and strengthen the system for things to work according to book
"These multi-national companies have not been operating under atmosphere of fairness, they are used to corrupt system of doing things, they are now leaving when we have a system that wants to put everything in place", he stated
The monarch however expressed optimism that other companies would come into the country to invest and create more employment opportunities and wealth for Nigerians , considering the present policies of government
Oba Adesina urged the Ogun State Government to do needful by providing good access road to rural areas particularly Ijanna-Yewa community, to enable farmers to transport their farm products to urban areas to reduce prices of foodstuffs in the local markets and prevent rural to urban migration
"We are appealing to the State Government to provide access road to Ijanna-Yewa and other agrarian communities in the state, if we have good roads ,it will ease the challenges of farmers bringing their farm products to urban areas", he pleaded
The traditional ruler who said the issue of insecurity was being over bloated particularly in the South West part of the country, expressed confidence in the capacity of people in the zone to feed the entire country, considering large size of agrarian communities
"The issue of insecurity in south west is not enough for us not to produce food for our people. In south west we can feed ourselves, come to Yewaland , we have open land for farming, people are not being encouraged to go into farming.
The only thing I can do for my people is to empower them by providing the needed tools and financial assistance to encourage them to do more before now they had nobody to support them", he stated
Oba Adesina unfolded his plan to construct a mini-depot where women can process cassava to garri , cassava powder, yam powder (elubo ) as part of strategic moves to restore the old glory of Ijanna-Yewa known for producing one of best qualities garri in Yewa axis of the State
The monarch added that essence of the depot which will be equipped with the necessary modern machines and other facilities required for producing garri, was aimed at empowering farmers who grow cassava and women producing garri and other extracts from cassava
He stated that similar empowerment to cassava stakeholders was being extended to other farmers in Ijanna-Yewa to enable everyone to contribute financially to the development of the community projects
Oba Adesina says a new befitting palace is under construction and will be completed later this year where all the arti-facts and relics of the ancient town will be moved to on completion
This is good start. I know that Oba Adesina loves his people and has mapped out grand development plans for them. Iam very optimistic that he will do well in his reign.
