Banks ATM Now Dispensing New Naira Notes To Customers In Abeokuta

Central Bank of Nigeria might have found way round the recent naira scarcity in the country, as commercial banks in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital are now loading newly printed N1,000 notes into their respective Automated Teller Machines (ATM) for customers

Edu-Biznews observed on Wednesday that commercials banks in Abeokuta loaded several new notes of the redesigned N1,000 into their ATM, unlike the ugly experience of the past one month where banks stopped loading such cash into the machines up till Christmas and new year festivities, forcing customers to use electronic banking or make outright withdrawal of cash across the counter inside the banking halls

As at 12 noon on Wednesday at the Asero branch of Guaranty Trust Bank(GTBank ) customers were seen collecting newly printed N1,000  from the ATM

Similarly on the same day as at 5:30pm at Eco-Bank branch in the highly commercialized area of Omida in Ibara area of the city , the ATM stationed at the bank's main entrance was equally dispensing newly printed redesign N1,000 to customers

It will be recalled that Apex bank returned to the Supreme Court in Abuja where on 29th of November obtained fresh validity order of old naira notes to last indefinitely until being replaced with the newly redesign naira notes of N200,N500 and N1,000

Governor of CBN, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso had earlier assured Nigerians of readiness of the apex bank to print more newly redesign naira notes to replace the old naira notes in the country

The situation is strongly indicating that that  the CBN might have started gradual replacement of the old naira notes with the new ones
