TUC, ASUSS Join NLC To Appreciate Gov.Abiodun Over Payment Of Xmas Bonuses To Ogun Workers





Trade Union Congress (TUC) and its affiliate Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) in Ogun State have joined their counter-part from the State Council of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to appreciate Governor Dapo Abiodun over the payment of Christmas bonuses ranging between N20,000 and N100,000 to workers on the payroll of the State Government

Edu-Biznews had earlier on Sunday, reported the Appreciation Letter  written by Chairman of NLC, Comrade Hameed Benco-Ademola which was further reinforced by both State Chairmen of TUC, Comrade Akeem Lasisi and that of ASUSS , Comrade Oluwaseun Agbesanwa and Secretary, Comrade Bankole Oluwaseyi

TUC in its Appreciation Letter dated 24th of December,2023, obtained by Edu-Biznews, described the approval and payment of the bonuses as unexpected kindness from the governor, saying 
" the gesture, no doubt, will go a long way in cushioning the effect of the festering economic hardship that members of the workforce and their families face daily"

Lasisi in the letter was full of praises for the governor, assuring the current administration in the state of more commitment of workers to ensure greater productivity and stable industrial relationship with government


"We believe in His Excellency's character, capacity and above all, compassion to make Ogun workers active, motivated, comfortable and happy to do more for our dear state in the area of productivity. We are however assuring you that this unforeseen fatherliness from His Excellency will further spur our colleagues to do more to churn out greater harvest on all fronts for our dear state"

"We sincerely acknowledge Your Excellency's efforts in ensuring remarkable industrial relations stability in our dear state" , the TUC Chairman assured

Similarly ASUSS in its Appreciation Letter dated the same date, said that the Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration had further endeared its self to workers and teachers in particular for ensuring payment of December salary and Christmas bonuses to them at the same time, describing such it as almost unprecedented in the history of the state 

The State Chairman of ASUSS, Comrade Agbesanwa in the letter, expressed confidence that the governor would keep his administration promise of settling the outstanding leave allowances, unremitted global deductions from workers' salaries and other sundry deductions 

"Your Excellency, what has further endeared your administration to Ogun workers, and teachers in particular, was the payment of December salary and the Christmas Bonus at the same time: a gracious decision that is almost unprecedented in the state"

"By this commendable gesture, you have shown and confirmed that when, and not if, the state's economy is better and more robust in the foreseeable future, our requests for the payments of leave allowances, global deductions, and other sundry deductions will become history as they will be implementable", the union stated

When the news broke that His Excellency, in his usual gracious capacity, has approved the payment of the Christmas Bonus for the state's workforce, it came to us with a shock, albeit we are not unaware of the humanness that His Excellency defined.

The unexpected Christmas Bonus package has further marked out the current administration as the one with bags of tricks. This gesture, no doubt, will go a long way in cushioning the effect of the festering economic hardship that members of the workforce and their families face daily.

We believe in His Excellency's character, capacity and above all, compassion to make Ogun workers active, motivated, comfortable and happy to do more for our dear state in the area of productivity.
