Ogun Statistician-General Asks MDAs To Always Share Data For Proper Planning Of Govt's Activities

 

Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of Ogun State Government have been urged to always share and circulate statistical publications among themselves for proper  planning of government of activities and programmes 

The  State Statistician-General, Mr. Michael Ajayi who gave the charge in Abeokuta, during a day workshop, organised by the State Ministry of Budget and Planning, as well as the Bureau of Statistics, in collaboration with United Nations Population Fund Agency (UNFPA), pointed out that Statisticians go through the rigours of data collection, collation, analysis and interpretation,

He said thatl it was imperative to circulate, distribute and share publication for purpose of planning, as and when due.

While distributing the Year 2023 editions of Ogun State Statistical Year Book to the participants from the MDAs, Local Government Areas and some Federal agencies, the Statistician General urged stakeholders in the state statistical system to use the disseminated publications judiciously, so as to reap the benefits therein.

He itemised various challenges facing Statisticians to include funding, facilities, equipment, logistics, data security and privacy, among others, appreciating the present administration for giving the Bureau an enabling environment to function.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Mrs. Fumilayo Dada, represented by the Director, Development Partner Coordination in the Ministry, Mrs. Funmilola Tade, charged the MDAs, especially the Directors of Planning, Research and Statistics (DPRS), including participants at the workshop to make good use of the training, to assist the Bureau to effectively perform its function.

The spokesperson, UNFPA in the state, Dr. Akin Akinbajo, in his goodwill message, applauded the Bureau for providing accurate, timely, reliable and credible information, which formed current and future policies of government, pledging its agency’s support.

Mr. Babajide Akindele a participants from the Ministry of Budget and Planning,  lauded the Bureau for the workshop, saying, is an eye-opener to early submissions of data, appealing to the State Government and the Bureau for more elaborate training where intricacies on data collection and submission would be adequately explained.
