Ogun Govt Gives Reasons For Regeneration Of Ibara-Abeokuta GRA

Ogun State Government says its ongoing regeneration programme of Ibara-Abeokuta GRA  by the Ministry of Housing is to build modern, befitting houses and give real value to the State and the people.

The State Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi explained this while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after inspecting part of the dilapidated building at Ibara GRA and Government Technical College Idi-Aba, both in Abeokuta, the State capital

Omoniyi, who was accompanied on the inspection by the Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun and top officials of the ministry and the State Housing Corporation, said government was not in any way trying to witch-hunt Civil Servants who occupy the houses but rather execute its urban renewal programme for the State.

He noted that similar GRAs in other southwestern States have been rebuilt over the years to conform with modern housing schemes, saying the regeneration scheme of Ibara GRA would commence before the end of 2023.

‘’I am happy to inform the people of Ogun State that Governor Dapo Abiodun has graciously approved our proposed GRA Regeneration Programme. He has said on different occasions that we must come up with a lively city that can portray Ogun Standard. Some of these houses here will be brought down very soon. We will plan, replan and come up with something to show that Ogun is ready for business in terms of real estate", Omoniyi stated.

Also speaking, the Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun commended the Civil Servants for responding to the vacate order by the government, saying the regeneration programme is for the betterment of the State and further create an enabling environment to live.

Fagbohun revealed that about 232 Civil Servants residing in the estate would be given consideration in the regeneration programme, urging them to take advantage of mortgages, in order to benefit from the affordable housing scheme programme.

He urged the workforce to continue to support the present administration to achieve all its policies and programmes.
