Ogun State Government says it is concluding plan to give a face-lift to the Government Residential Area in Ibara, (GRA), Abeokuta, as part of its regeneration programme to provide smart affordable housing in the State Capital
The State Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi, made this known during an inspection tour to assess the level of compliance of the occupants to the vacation order served by the government.
Jagunmolu said most of the building would be demolished in due course to re-plan and pave the way for new structures, befitting the area.
" Citizens of Ogun State should be expecting a new thing in the second term of Prince Dapo Abiodun in the Real Estate business and these gestures will be extended to all GRAs, Igbeba in Ijebu-Ode, Ilaro, Ota, and Sagamu for total resurface", Jagunmolu said.
He said it is rather unfortunate that the previous administration failed to maintain those buildings, adding that, that is the reason it is in shabby condition while the majority of the civil servants occupying the buildings are subletting them, which is against the terms and conditions given by the government.
He mentioned that the Governor has given express approval to prioritize the welfare of Civil Servants therefore urging them to take up any of those housing schemes under Affordable housing Projects by tapping into mortgage options in order to have a place of their own in the nearest future.
