Ogun Assembly Okays Three Commissioner Nominees For Gov Abiodun To Constitute State Exco Five Months After





Ogun State House of Assembly has confirmed the nomination of the three commissioner- nominees, including a former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Efuwape, former Commissioner, Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning, Town Planner Olatunji Odunlami and former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Revenue, Mr. Wasiu Isiaka after being screened last Monday

This brings the total number of Commissioner Nominees confirmed by the house so far to 20, having cleared eight in the first batch on 3rd of August, followed by another batch of nine who were approved last 19th of September 

The approval followed the adoption of the report of the Committee of the Whole House as presented by the Deputy  Speaker, Hon. Ajayi Bolanle, who later moved the motion for its adoption,  which was seconded by Lukmon Atobatele and supported by the Whole House.

The confirmation of the three nominees was thereafter done through a motion moved by the Majority Leader,  Yusuf Sheriff and seconded the Minority Leader Lukman Adeleye and supported by the Whole House through a unanimous voice vote at the plenary presided over by Rt. Hon. Oluomo at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan,  Abeokuta. 

It is expected that Governor Dapo Abiodun will now constitute his full fledged State Executive Council's  members almost five months after being sworned in for the second term in office and scaling the legal hurdle of  the election tribunal's verdict on the 30th of September which affirmed his re-election in the March 18 governorship poll in the state 

In another development, Speaker Oluomo acknowledged a congratulatory letter from the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun felicitating Speaker Oluomo on his attainment of 60 years.

According to the Governor's letter dated, 5th October, 2023, "reaching the age of 60 in good health and sound mind, as you have, is undoubtedly a divine blessing and a cherished aspiration for many. This milestone is significant not just due to the number but also because your life serves as a shining example of enduring family values that transcend generations. Your unwavering commitment to values such as discipline, honesty, community service, entrepreneurship, and humility has not only shaped your own family but also inspired countless others in our community".

"Our beloved State has profoundly benefitted from your wealth of experience and exceptional professional competence during your tenure as the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly. 

Your unwavering leadership in legislative matters and your outstanding contributions to debates and other legislative duties are truly commendable. You stand as a living example of what an individual can achieve through unwavering dedication and passion, even when faced with challenging circumstances. Your presence serves as an enduring source of inspiration and mentorship for the younger generations who aspire to follow in your footsteps", the letter partly reads.

Governor Abiodun acknowledged that under Oluomo's leadership in the State legislature, the House of Assembly has reached unprecedented heights, and its members had greatly benefited from his professional competence, adding that his numerous accomplishments make the entire Gateway State proud.
