President Bola Almed Tinubu has appointed Mr. Hakeem Muri Okunola as his Principal Secretary,just as he nominated two more names,Dr.Jamila Bio Ibrahim and Mr. Ayodele Olawande as
ministers for the Ministry of Youth, subject to the confirmation of the Nigeria's Senate
President Tinubu had announced the various appointments on Sunday,hours before his departure for the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States
Presidential Spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale said in a statement that Muri Okunola was until recently, Head of Civil Service of Lagos State, an astute administrator who had earlier served as Personal Secretary to Tinubu then as governor of Lagos State
He added in the statement that Muri Okunola would be bringing his over 25 years of experience in law and public service to bear on his new role as Principal Secretary to President Tinubu
“The President has further approved the nomination of Mr. Ayodele Olawande to serve as the Minister of State for Youth, pending his confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria"
“Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim is a young medical doctor and most recently served as the President of the Progressive Young Women Forum (PYWF). She has also served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” presidential spokesman stated .
Meanwhile President Tinubu is now in New York, United States where he will be delivering his inaugural speech to the 78th United Nations General Assembly and also meet top leaders of the world as well as business leaders, to attract more foreign direct investments to the country
The 78th session of the UNGA begins this Monday 18th of September till 26th of September
The theme for this year’s meeting is, “Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress and Sustainability for All”.
This is Tinubu’s first UNGA meeting since he was sworn in as president in May.
According to a statement by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the President is expected to hold bilateral meetings with various world leaders, including President Joe Biden of the United States, and EU Commission President Von Der Leyen on the sidelines of the summit.
The President is also expected to meet with the global president of Microsoft Brad Smith as well as the Head of Global Affairs for Meta Technologies Nick Clegg.
