Kehinde Oloyede, Qudus Adebayo, Six Others Win In 2023 Ogun State Boxing Hall Of Fame Tourney




It was a battle of superiority between between Kehinde Oloyede and Opemipo Olukoya in the 65kg contest in the 2023 edition of Ogun Boxing Hall Of Fame show organized by the State Boxing Association 

Kehinde Oloyede emerged winner with 3-2 split decisions in the very tough bout that saw both boxers in a pounds for pounds fight inside the hall of Alake Sports Complex , Ijeja , Abeokuta, the State capital




The 60kg fight between Qudus Adebayo and Rasaq Taiwo, also produced a very tight contest, with Qudus scoring a 2-1 split decisions to emerge as the winner of the bout 

Similarly Ayobami Kasali with 4-1 split decisions defeated Oladimeji Ismail in the 57kg contest 




It was easy ride for Sulaimon Onabanjo, Ayomide Akinsanya and Solanke Dimeji as the trio recorded unanimous decisions against their respective opponents 

Sulaimon Onabanjo overwhelmed Quayum Adeniran in the 44 kg contest, Ayomide Akinsanya out punched Ibrahim Gafar in the 52kg bout while Solanke Dimeji outclassed Kasali Tajudeen in the 72kg bout 

In one of the female bouts , Oluwaseun Bankole lost to Serah Adepoju who won with technical point after both boxers recorded same point in very tough fight in the 46kg contest while Damilola Sobayo with 5-1 split decisions beat Mistura Oyeleye in the other bout in the 57kg


Permanent Secretary in the Ogun State Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr. Qudus Yusuf said that the championship was one of the competitions being organized, to prepare boxers  representing the state in the forthcoming National Sports Festival as well as discover new talents that would be nurture to other boxers representing the state 

The Permanent Secretary added that organizing such competition was also being used to test run facilities to be used for the hosting of the game in 2024

He expressed confidence on the readiness of the state in preparing its athletes with series of competitions to keep them in shape and also provide the needed facilities for the successful hosting of the festival, come next year
