Village Heads In various rural communities in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State have raised alarm over increasing activities of Landgrabbers whom they accused of invading their landed property and threatening to attack anyone who dares to develop any form of structure or buildings on disputed lands in Siun, Owode and Osoba villages along Abeokuta-Sagamu Express way
The fresh alarm was coming on the heels of the cry within the same week by another Village Head, (Baale) of Ifelodun community in the council area , Chief Semiu Egungbohun who alleged threath to his life by suspected Landgrabbers who attacked him in his house early this month at the Workers Estate, Laderin in Abeokuta over a disputed 16 acres of landed property in Ologiri village between two families
The Baale General of Council of Orile-Igboore Baale ,Chief Musiliudeen Soremi raising the alarm on Saturday at a news conference in Abeokuta, appealed to the Ogun State Government through its newly inaugurated Taskforce to rescue the village Heads(Baale) and owners of landed property from the rampaging suspected Landgrabbers who are threathening to forcefully take over their lands in Osoba village in Isiun and other rural communities within the Local Government Area
Soremi who is also Baale of Agbajege narrated his personal ordeal in the hands of one Olawale Ogunlana whom he accused of engaging Landgrabbers to forcefully take possession of a land in Osoba village bought by his late father, Chief Solomon Soremi from Ogunlana family in 1976 with all the titled documents still intact
The Baale General speaking on behalf of other Village Heads, says their lives and that of property owners in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area are now under serious threat by the suspected Landgrabbers who have taken over the area unchecked by security agencies, even after reporting the matter to the office of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Lagos and Ogun, the Ogun State House of Assembly and the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo
Soremi claimed that Olawale accompanied by a surveyor, some security operatives and Landgrabbers have continued to threathening anyone who dares to develop any structure since their invasion of the disputed land in January,2023
The Village Heads including its Secretary, Baale of Ijeun Adedayo , Chief Odun-ewu Abdulrafiu and Baale of Ifelodun, Chief Semiu Egungbohun blamed the ugly situation on internal collaborators including a traditional ruler name not disclosed working with suspected Landgrabbers who according to them, are well connected with top security chiefs in Abuja
"We want Ogun State Government to urgently come to our rescue from the hands of these Landgrabbers who can do and undo , our lives are no more safe , we can't go to our farmlands or landed property because of the fear of being attacked by these Landgrabbers ", he pleaded
They called on the State Government and Nigeria Police Force to act quickly by arresting and prosecuting those involved in the illegal activities in court inline with the provisions of the State Anti-Landgrabbers Law
They also appealed to the State House of Assembly through its Lands and Housing Committee Chairman, Hon. Damilola Soneye who is representing Obafemi-Owode Constituency to act fast on the matter
