The embattled Ogun State Chairman of New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday has described the story of his removal, following the recent judgement by a Federal High Court in Abeokuta, as fake news being spread by those he called desperate politicians fighting hard to hijack the structure of the party in the state, as the leadership deepened
The court in its judgement delivered on 20th July,2023, said that the issue of removal of Oginni as the State Chairman was internal matter of the party which the court has no jurisdiction to adjudicate over the matter as filed by the embattled State Chairman who anticipated his removal and expulsion by the National Leadership of NNPP over his withdrawal of the party's petition challenging the election of Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the last March 18,2023 governorship poll on the ground of alleged exclusion of the party's logo on the ballot paper for the poll.
Oginni who had since approached Federal Court of Appeal in Ibadan to challenge the judgement of the lower court, described those jubilating over the decision of the court as " Jokers and bunches of illetrates"
Reacting to the judgement, Oginni insisted that he remain in charge of NNPP in the state, despite his removal by the national hierarchy of the party, asking the appellate court in the appeal notice filed last Tuesday, 25th of July, 2023 to set aside the judgement and put record straight
Oginni in a statement made available to Edu-Biznews on Thursday, explained that he decided to approach the appellate court in Ibadan to put the record straight that the internal party mechanism was not utilized as contained in the judgement by the lower court before his removal and expulsion by the party in support of the governorship candidate, Mr.Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo who has been in the running battle with him for the control of soul of NNPP in the state
He added that the governorship candidate had failed at the Appeal Court in Ibadan in his attempt to re-enlist the petition withdrew before the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Abeokuta
The statement reads in part:"I, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday in my capacity as the Ogun State Chairman of NEW NIGERIA PEOPLE'S PARTY instituted the case at Federal High Court Abeokuta as Plaintiff"
"The Court in clear time ruled That it cannot adjudicate on the matter because it's not a pre- election matter. The Learned Judge unequivocally directed that the disputes are clearly " family matter" and that the internal mechanism of crisis resolution within Our Party should be exhausted before resulting into Court for Adjudication"
"However, some mischievous elements whose desperation are to highjack The Leadership of Ogun State NNPP went on rampage spreading fake news"
"It's on record that the former Gubernatorial Candidate of NNPP in Ogun State Mr. Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has been failing repeatedly and continuously in his desperation to highjack The Leadership of the Party"
"Going the Memory lane, Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo's effort to highjack The PETITION PET /OG/GOV/01/2023 filled by Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday on behalf of Ogun State NNPP Executive Council failed at the Tribunal"
"In Oguntoyinbo's characters of desperation, he approached the Court of Appeal sitting at Ibadan to upturn the decision of The Ogun State Governorship Election Tribunal that Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday and The Ogun State Executive Council with their Counsel Peter Ogah are the custodian of NNPP in Ogun State and consequently The OWNER of The Petition "
