The management of Ogun State branch of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has been asked to review its operational guidelines, to make the products and services being offered by the mortgage finance institution accessible to more people who need to acquire houses for their families in the State.
The State Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, made the call while receiving the management team of the Bank, led by its Branch Manager, Esv. Olufemi Fasoyin, in his office, at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
According to Fagbohun, the number of beneficiaries subscribing to various facilities in the bank is insignificant, considering the population of the State, hence, at intervals, the need for the review of terms and policies to accommodate more people.
"Ogun State attaches great importance to the housing needs of her people. Find out why more people are not subscribing to your products and services, evaluate your terms and policies and make your conditions friendly to all", the HoS charged.
Earlier in his presentation, Esv. Fasoyin said the visit was to reiterate the support that the bank has been enjoying from the present government, describing its collaboration as cordial and strategic, which had enabled the people of the State to benefit maximally.
He revealed that the bank has not reneged in its efforts at refunding money to the retiring beneficiaries, soliciting government’s cooperation in terms of prompt remittance of deductions to the coffers of the bank for effective service delivery.
In the same vein, the Head of Service, Mr. Fagbohun, also received in his office the executive members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), Schools and Colleges Branch, Ogun State, led by its Chairman, Comrade Olumide Oduneye, with a charge on them to explore the opportunity available in the Civil Service to expand their frontiers.
According to him, there are extant rules and regulations guiding the Civil Service, which must be strictly adhered to, to avoid contravention, thus, handling their career challenges properly and in the right manner.
He urged them to always take responsibility for their personal development in terms of skills and knowledge gathering, in order to remain relevant and add value to the service of the State.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman said issues militating against the Union, which include, career stagnation, shortage of non-teaching staff members in secondary schools across the State, as well as training and retraining of its members, should be looked into by the government.
