Ogun Govt, DAWN Commission Strategize On South-West Agric Mineral Resources Trade Fair

Ogun State Government has met with officials of the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission and members of the private sector to fine-tune discussion on how to ensure  successful hosting of the forthcoming 3rd South West Agricultural and Mineral Resources Trade Fair slated  to hold in the State later in the year.

The trade exhibition is expected to showcase agricultural and solid minerals opportunities available within the six states of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti in south west to further stimulate economic growth, as well as exceed past achievements of the region 

         

Speaking during the meeting held in Abeokuta, Chairman of the Fair's Local Organising Committee (LOC) and Director of Geological Services in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Lekan Eniolawun said the State was determined to host the best edition in the history of the Fair

He  added that the programme which involves all the South Western States would link and promote the products of stakeholders in the agriculture and solid minerals value chain across the region.

         

Eniolawun stated that the scope of the event would be widened to include the industrial sector, especially as the State is the industrial hub of the country, assuring that the government would address limitations identified during the last edition and adequately mobilise stakeholders for effective participation.

         

 "Ogun State is going to improve on the Fair this year in all areas including participation and attendance by relevant stakeholders. We are going to work hand-in-glove with relevant stakeholders. We are going to relate with the industries that offtake the agricultural and solid minerals in the State and ensure the right stakeholders are part of the Trade Fair", the LOC Chairman disclosed.

          

In her contribution, a representative of the State Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs. Gloria Ojikutu noted that the event presents opportunities for farmers by helping to facilitate stronger relationships between farmers and manufacturers, as well as other off-takers.

          

She called on all the States in the South West region to build a stronger synergy towards ensuring the success of the programme.

          

In his remarks, Head, Programmes, DAWN Commission. Mr. Abiodun Oladipo said the Commission through the Trade Fair was deliberately building interaction and showcasing mineral endowment across the region, lauding the Ogun State Government for putting together an LOC towards the success of the Fair.
