A prominent traditionist, Chief Aregbesola Anipupo, the Oluwo ifa of Ogun State has lauded the State House of Assembly on its recent resolution making every 20th August, a public holiday for celebration of cultural festival (Isese Day) in the State
The Oluwo Ifa who was fielding questions from newsmen in Abeokta shortly after a meeting of top Ifa chiefs held in Abeokuta, also called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to immediately enforce the resolution by declaring the day as public holiday as earlier pronounced by the governor during his re-election campaign to the traditionists
Chief Anipupo stressed the need for protection and promotion of cultural heritage in the interest of future generation
He was full of praises for the speaker of the house, Right Honourable Olakunle Oluomo for the historical resolution, describing the resolution as a show of love and unity among the people of Ogun State
The top Ifa Priest added that the speaker had written his name in gold with the passage of the resolution which has continued to gladden the hearts of traditionists who can now celebrate their cultural festival every 20th of August
Other Ifa chiefs who lauded Governor Abiodun and Speaker Oluomo include Chief Oyesanya Oseni Araba State, Chief ifasola Bankole Akoda Chief Ifamajente Majekodunmi
Similarly the Association of Babalawos in Egbaland under the leadership of Chief ifagbeminiyi Atanda Baoku ifa Tantala, the Oluwo ifa of Egbaland, Chief Onifade Amole Ogundele Abere ifa, Ojubona onifa of Egba and with the support of Chief Ifaniaki Ifasunday Amosun,the chairman of Isese Traditional Council in Ogun State showered encomium on the both the governor and speaker of the State House of Assembly for supporting every 20th of August as Isese Day
The highly elated Babalawos also enjoined the governor to enforce the resolution of the house by declaring every 20th of August as public holiday in the state for the traditionalists to celebrate their various cultural festivals
