The Ogun State Chapter of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) has congratulated the Chairman, Management and technical Staff of Remo Stars football club, Ikenne-Remo for the Club's historic qualification for the prestigious CAF Champions League, a season after playing in the 2nd-tier CAF Confederations Cup
State Chairman of YSFON,Alhaji Lawal Adeoye Waheed who doubles as the Chairman, PFAN, Ogun State and President, Allstars Football Club Abeokuta, described the feat as no fluke but a reward for huge investment of the management of Remo Stars in the club and development of football in the country
"This latest qualification in just two years of returning back to the Elite Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) was mince-meat nor a fluke, but an outcome of huge investment in Youth development as exemplified by the Junior team Beyond Limit's qualification to the Nigeria National League (NNL) from the Nationwide League which has robbed-off on the senior team. The visible rapid investment, hard work, dedication of the Chairman, and the entire Staff of Remo Stars FC" .
Remo Stars came second on the table of six team in the NPFL 2023 Super-6 tournament that ended at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos to claim a first ever ticket for Ogun State in qualification to the CAF Champions League.
Ogun YSFON maintained that picking up this long-elusive qualification among more experienced and highly traditional teams such as Bendel Insurance, Rivers United and Sunshine Stars was a reward of financial investment driven by passion to redefine football management in Nigeria and put Ogun State on the world football map again, just like Abiola Babes did qualify for the CAF Cup Winners cup in 1986.
The Association is confident that Remo Stars would make Nigerians and Ogun State proud when the competition kicks off in a few months.
"The Chairman, Ogun State YSFON - Alhaji Lawal Adeoye Waheed who doubled as the Chairman, PFAN, Ogun State and President, Allstars Football Club Abeokuta and the entire members wish to congratulate you on the result of your investment in providing platform for the Youths to showcase their talents and ward them off social vices through the establishment of your noble initiative, Remo Stars Football Club
"It is with great joy and happiness that we received the news of your qualification as the second Ogun State-based football club to have played in the African Continental Club Competition since 1986/87 season when Abiola Babes last attended"
The Association in its concluding part of the congratulatory message, implored the team to continue to work with determination and motivation, so as to sustain the tempo of the achievements recorded so far
