Workers at the Ogun State House of Assembly have suspended their indefinite strike action over alleged non-implementation of Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure by the State Government amongst other demands
The State Chapter of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) announced the suspension in a notice obtained by Edu-biznews on Wednesday
The association asked its
members to immediately resume their regular duties and responsibilities without delay
The union suspended the Industrial action to pave way for goverment to address its demands including the need to comply with the provisions of sections 10(2), 13, and 14 of the State Assembly Service Commission Law, 2018, and the Statutory Offices (State Emoluments) Amendment Law, 2018.
This non-compliance according to PASAN, has resulted in the non-payment of due salary and allowances to some of its members since their respective dates of appointment.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Olakunle Oluomo had last Tuesday pleaded with the workers to put their strike, assuring them that Governor Dapo Abiodun is looking into their demands
PASAN had at the end of its earlier three-day warning strike on 31st of May, 2023,declared the indefinite Industrial action at the union's emergency Congress , to compel the goverment to respond its demands
