Rotary Club Graduands In Ogun Get NABTEB Modular Trade Certificates

Graduands who completed training at maiden edition of the Vocational Training and Youth Empowerment Start-Up Programme conducted by
Ogun State Government, in partnership with the National Business Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) under the sponsorship of the Rotary District 9110, have been issued with Modular Trade Certificates (MTC)

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical and Vocational Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa, while speaking during the
presentation  of certificates to trainees and awards to the sponsors of the programme, at June 12, Cultural Center, Kuto, Abeokuta, stated that the State Government places importance on Technical and Vocational Education (TVE) sector.

Odemuyiwa said the present administration had collaborated with the NABTEB to ensure that Technical and Vocational Education takes its pride of place in the State.

He added that the sector focuses on employability in the State and the country at large, saying that the training which ranges from Adire, Artistry, Solar/CCTV Installation, Graphic Design, Fishery, and Confectionary, among others, was put together by Rotary District 9110 to better lives of teeming youths.

The Governor’s aide urged the trainees to take advantage of the rare opportunity given to them and appealed to the sponsors of the programme to partner and make use of the State government technical and vocational centres to enable more youths to acquire skills.

"When education is not providing livelihood, it is not qualitative, at least every youth must strive to be an employer of labour, we are planning to introduce skills into our tertiary institutions so that every graduate will acquire a skill, and not acquire a skill alone, but getting certificate on the skill", he said.

Earlier in her speech, the District Governor 9110, Rotarian Omotunde Lawson, appreciated the State government’s effort in revamping Technical Education, encouraging the trainees to work more and develop themselves.

In her remark, the Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Mrs. Alaba Lawson commended the sponsors of the programme for making it a reality, imploring the graduands to cascade the training in their domains.

Two of the beneficiaries, Oreoluwa Caleb and Adedayo Adedotun lauded the organisers and Governor Dapo Abiodun for his unflinching support towards TVE, enjoining all youths to grab every good opportunity and key into vocational training.
