MAYDAY SPECIAL:NLC Wants Ogun Govt To Review Agreement... Demands Report On Contributory Pensions, Consequential Adjustment





Nigeria Labour Congress has asked the Ogun State Government to reviewing the implementation of its 2022 agreement with organized labour in the Memorandum of Understanding and Memorandum of Action 

Chairman of the State Counçil of NLC, Comrade Hameed Benco-Ademola who made the call during celebration of the 2023 May Day on Monday in Abeokuta, also called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to order Committee on Contributory Pension Scheme to speedily complete its findings and submit the report for further action within the next 30fays 

NLC reminded the governor of the need to revisit the implementation of the MOA and MOU  which includes prompt payment of gross salaries to workers, contributory pension scheme and payment of backlog of gratuities of Public Service Retirees 

The labour leader also demanded for speedy consideration of granting and Implementation of the pension consequential adjustment in consonance with the existing circulars and payment of the January and February 2020 arrears of the minimum wage Implementation

NLC requested that the outstanding leave bonuses should be integrated into the workers' monthly salaries as promised while ensuring that the outstanding ones are profiled for payment

While calling for total overhauling of the Ogun State Water Corporation as well as regularization of staff under various Market Boards, NLC asked government to adequately empower the Local Government and the Judiciary by transferring substantial financial powers to them in order to ensure grassroots development as well as independency of the judiciary there by restoring the hope of the masses for good justice  

NLC is also demanding for consideration and approval of the consolidation of the salaries of Heads of Local Government Administration which places them at par with their counterpart in the State occupying similar position and carrying out the same functions 

Benco-Ademola who demanded for domestication and Implementation of special salary scale for parliamentary staffers in the state, stressed the need to extend occupational hazard allowances to Agricultural and Allied Workers in the state
