Filing Stations In Abeokuta Record Low Patronage Over Hike In Fuel Pump Price

Several filing Stations in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital recorded low patronage of customers, following the hike in the pump price of petrol from the initial official price of N197 per litre to between N488 and N557 by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited to reflect market reality for the product arising from the removal of subsidy by the Federal Government

Edu-biznews observed that only few motorists and other customers were seen in most of the filing Stations dispensing the product at N500 per litre in Asero, Ijaiye, Abiola way, Ake, Ijemo and other areas of the city

Some of the customers decided to readjust themselves by reducing the quantity of fuel they consume for both their businesses and domestic usage

Only few vehicles including commercial cars were seen on the roads as most motorists are still finding it difficult to cope with harsh reality of deregulation of the product by the government following the removal of the subsidy on the product

The few operators of commercial cabs hike the transportation fares by more than 100 percent depending on the destination of commuters within the city
