Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Olakunle Oluomo has declared his interest to seek the support of members of the 10th legislature of the house for re-election as the speaker for another term in office
Oluomo who recently made history as the only fourth term member of the house from Ifo-One Constituency, announced his intention to contest for the office of the number three person in the state while featuring on a live current affairs programme monitored by Edu-biznews over the weekend in Abeokuta, the state capital
The speaker said he would be lobbying for the support of 10 returning members and other 15 new lawmakers who emerged at the last March 18 poll to represent various constituencies in the 26-member State House of Assembly will be inaugurated by Governor Dapo Abiodun later in June, 2023
The returnees joining the speaker in the 10th legislature include, Daisi Elemide(Odeda), Ademola Adeniran(Sagamu-two), Damilola Soneye (Obafemi-Owode), Yusuf Amosun (Ewekoro), Mrs Bolanle Ajayi( Yewa South), as well as Wahab Haruna and Adegoke Adeyanju( Yewa North one and two) respectively
Others include Jemili Akingbade( Imeko-Afon) as well as Musefiu Lamidi and Sheriff Yusuf (Ado-Odo/Ota two and one ) who are all members of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
It is not clear, if other ranking APC members of the house including Daisi Elemide and Damilola Soneye from Ogun Central will be joining the race for the speakership
APC still has majority of 17 members in the coming tenth legislature while the remaining nine members are from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party
