The recently concluded maiden "Shuttle Time Nigeria Clinic" organized by the Badminton Federation for schools in Remo Division of the Ogun State Sports Counçil, attracted no fewer than 15 Secondary Schools in Remo land
The schools who participated at the coaching clinic held between April 5 and 6, 2023, at Ilisan Community Town Hall, Ilisan-Remo, included
Aunty Fola Group of School (Ilisan), Al-Lateef Muslim College (Ilisan), Christ Apostolic Grammar School (Iperu), Regal New Heights (Sagamu), Isanbi Model College (Ilisan), Highbrow College (Ilisan), Mayflower Schools (Ikenne) and Dee Unique College (Ilisan)
Also Ilisan High School (Ilisan), Methodist Comprehensive College (Sagamu), Community Grammar School (Lemo), and Isanbi Comprehensive High School (Ilisan) were the schools in attendance for the opening day of the clinic while
Christ the Redeemers College (Sagamu), and Simawa High School joined later in the second day of the clinic which also saw Physical Education (PE) teachers receiving training from Shuttle Time Nigeria Coordinator.
The Remo Sports Development Council was ably present at the clinic which witnessed schools across Ikenne Local Government and environs participating
The clinic which was powered by Community Sports and Educational Development (CSED), offered equipment including rackets, nets, and shuttlecocks to participating schools.
The clinic was attended by Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) members and members of badminton family in Nigeria like Obiageli Solaja (BFN Events and Organising sub-committee Chairperson), Mrs Onikopo Adebayo (Vice Chairman, Ogun State Badminton Association), Adewale Olasukani, (Badminton Head Coach, Ogun State), Mrs Asagba Grace, (former African Badminton Champion), amongst others.
Remo Divisional Sports Officer, Mr David Osuolale described the Badminton event as the first of its kind in the Remo Division of Ogun State.
He added that there was no centre where the game is being played in the whole of Remo before the clinic.
"Remo Sports Development Council will build on this development by forming Badminton Club for both Elite and Young players in the zone",
