Ogun Govt To Begin Road Construction In Boundary Community, Allays Fear Of Residents Over Encroachment




Ogun State Government is to begin construction of road in Irokun community in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, just as  it allayed fear of residents of the boundary area over alleged encroachment of their land by the Ondo State Government 

The state said the issue of land encroachment would be addressed by the National Boundary Commission.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Babatunde Adesina stated this during an assessment tour of infrastructure to Irokun community, saying the community was part of Ogun and would not be allowed to be taken over by the neighbouring Ondo State.

 Adesina restated the commitment of the present administration on even distribution of dividends of democracy, saying more infrastructural projects would be provided to the community at improving the standard of living of the residents to boost socio-economic development of the area.

‘’Irokun community belongs to Ogun State, and cannot be taken over by any neighbouring State. The National Boundary Commission has the documentation backed by law regarding where Ogun boundary ends. I will relay your message to the Governor and the appropriate action will be taken’’, he said.

The Special Adviser stated that the government had set up a committee which comprised of nine agencies including Ministries of Works and Infrastructure, Health, Education, Rural Development, Transportation, Housing, Information, among others, to look into their plights

In his response, the Onirokun of Irokun, Oba Buhari Balogun, appreciated the State government delegates for the visit, soliciting the support of Governor Dapo Abiodun for the provision of road infrastructure, water and security.
