The new Olowu of Owu-Kingdom, Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola says his reign will give priority to unity among Owus both at home in diaspora, just as he assured them of maximum support for actualization of their personal development and ambition, particularly in the areas of setting up businesses and creating jobs across Ogun State
Oba Matemilola who was formally presented with his staff of office as the 14th Olowu by Govermor Dapo Abiodun during the colourful coronation last Saturday, gave the assurance while announcing his four-point developmental agenda for the people on Sunday at a world press conference held at the Oke-Ago Owu Palace, in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the state
The monarch promised to create conducive environment for sons and daughters of Owu Kingdom interested in establishing one company or the other in any of the identified business corridors within or outside Owu Kingdom
"The first part of our programmes is unity and love , we need unity among ourselves, particularly among Owus across Nigeria and in Benin Republic, we will build on the foundation laid by the Royal Union of Owu People (ROUP) ", he stated
According to the Owu Kingdom's paramount ruler, support will be given to youths to succeed in their academic pursuits, there will be remedial classes for final year students in Senior Secondary School to prepare them for the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations WASSCE through the "Olowu Foundation" initiated by Olori Khadijat Matemilola
"We will ensure, we support all our sons and daughters to achieve what they want to achieve ,there will be mentorship to develop human capacity"
"I will support the right environment for business to thrive , we will create an enabling environment for Investors to invest in our communities" , the monarch added
Oba Matemilola also promised to preserve the culture and traditions of Owu Kingdom, saying a team of archielogists will be assembled to document the rich history of Owu people, for the next generation of Owus to know about their history
He was however full of praises for the successes recorded and support given so far by the people including the former president and prime minister of Owu Kingdom, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and other high chiefs as well as members of Central Planning Committee for his coronation and 2022 Odun Omo Olowu
