Artisans in Ogun State, under the aegies of Artisans Association of Nigeria has thrown its full weight behind the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and re-election of Governor Dapo Abiodun and other candidates at all levels in the state, come 2023 general elections, even as the association stressed the need for the establishment of Co-operative society to provide the needed for artisans to boost their respective trades
The State Chairman of the association, Anthony Ayodele and father of artisans, former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kehinde Odeneye in their separate address during "Artisans Day Celebration on Wednesday at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta
The APC presidential candidate who had earlier met with former president, Olusegun Obasanjo in a close door meeting, was accompanied to the venue of the event by Governor Abiodun, Speaker of House of Representatives, Right Honourable, Femi Gbajabiamila, pioneer National Chairman of the party and former governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande, former governors , Aremo Segun Osoba, Otunba Gbenga Daniel who is the Ogun East Senatorial Candidates and former Chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu amongst other dignitaries
Artisans who lauded the governor his support to the association in the state, also solicitated for position of Special Adviser in the State Executive Council, to bring the association closer to the State Government
They equally pleaded with government for establishment of Artisans Villiage where artisans who have access to working tools to enhance their respective trades
Tinubu later performed the official presentation of keys of four buses donated by the State Government to the association and prayed for artisans and their families
Governor Abiodun in his response, commended the association for its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product GDP of the state, describing the artisans as the largest employer of labour in the informal sector and one of the major drivers of the economy of the state
Abiodun expressed the readiness of his administration to work closely with the association to further strengthen relationship with artisans on how to enhance their respective trades and businesses
