Strike: No Agreement Reach With FG- ASUU

The  strike in public universities in Nigeria by the  Academic Staff Union of Universities will continue, following  the failure  of the union to reach  agreement with the Federal Government in its ongoing meeting with the Prof. Nimi Briggs committee

Chairman of the ASUU branch at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta FUNAAB, Dr. Gbenga Adeleye who made this known in an interview with Edu-biznews on Sunday in Abeokuta, said that the union was yet to agree with  the government on any of its demands

The National President of  ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke had been negotiating with the Briggs committee for more than a week over the  demands of the union

ASUU began ts ongoing strike on February 14,  2022, to compel the Federal Government  to meet some of its demands including, the release of revitalisation funds for universities, renegotiation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement, release of earned allowances for university lecturers, and deployment of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution

Edu-biznews recalled that on March 7, 2022, the Federal Government inaugurated a seven-member  committee led by the Pro-Chancellor of  Alex Ekweme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, to renegotiate the 2009 agreement reached with ASUU
