D‘ Tigeress who won back to back FIBA Africa Women’Championship for three times have drawn in Group- B alongside host Australia, Japan who won silver at the last Olympic, Canada, Serbia top rated France
Adelawan reacting to draw in a chat with EDU-BIZnews.com over the weekend in Abeokuta,the Ogun State capital, expressed confidence that the Nigeria’s girls have what it takes to qualify from the grpup having won FIBA-Africa for three consecutive periods .
He added that the girls would do well in their group saying the Nigeria Basketball Federation NBBF under the leadership of Engr. Musa Kida and Coaching Crew led by Otis Hughley
"We have technocrat as president of NBBF who understands the game and know how to motivate players, I trust D"Tigeress to do well at the World cup ,we will be among the top four to qualify from the group", Adelanwa expressed with confidence
The Veteran Owu-Abeokuta born tactician who discovered the likes of NBA Legend , Akeem Olajuwon and top other rated players, however stressed the need for Corporate organizations to compliment government efforts, by investing In development of the game while urging government at all levels to provide the needed standard facilities for basketball, especially construction of indoor sports halls to attract the interest of the corporate organizations
According to the Owu-Abeokuta Prince,"most of the states in Nigeria don't have indoor sports halls , we don't have Standard facilities in Nigeria and government must begin to invest in construction of indoor sports halls to encourage corporate organizations support to even sponsor live games in our local leagues and games involving national teams such as D"Tigeress games in the FIBA Women's World cup slated for Australia in September to attract the interest of young Nigerians in the game"
