Patriots Football Club defeated highly rated Gateway United of Abeokuta 2-1 on Thursday, in a final of the 2021 Ogun State Pre -season Tournament played at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta
Goals from the duo of Aaron Faronbi and Elias Oresanya in the fourth and 34th minutes respectively, gave Patriots two goals lead before Sunkanmi Odusina's 38th strike which reduced the tally for Gateway, ahead of the half time of the encounter
Patriots sustained their lead, as both sides failed to score in the remaining half of the match
Gateway will need to work extra hard to make impact in the forthcoming second tier Nigeria National League NNL and gain promotion to the elite Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL at the end of the new season
