Leadership of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria JUSUN and top officials of Ogun State Government are set for a fresh meeting on Monday August 30,2021 after the two previous meetings between both parties this week ended in a deadlock
The over three weeks old Industrial action by the workers who are accusing government of short paying them in the monthly salary structure, is crippling business and other activities in courts since 11th of August in the state, particularly the Local Government Election Petition Tribunal whose sitting has been put on hold
State Chairman of the union, Comrade Tajudeen Edun in an interview with Edu-Biznews in Abeokuta on Friday,dropped the hint on the meeting which will include Secretary To The State Government,Tokunbo Talabi leading negotiating team for government
Edun said that the union was under pressure to call off the strike, because of the destruction it has caused in the judiciary arm of government, especially in the dispensation of justice
The JUSUN chairman said the two meetings held on August 23 and 25 with representatives of government and the earlier meeting held on August 6 failed to reach agreement on the demands
He explained that the union started noticing a drastic cut in the judicial workers' allowances which is equivalent to 65percent of the salary structure now reduced to 32percent since October, 2020
Edun vowed that JUSUN would not compromise its stance or call off the strike, until the demand for restoration of the judicial Workers' allowances as reflected in the Consolidated Judiciary Salary Structure (CONJUSS) and others are met by the government
According to him, "the judicial Workers' have been enjoying the salary structure since 2013 during the Otunba Gbenga Daniel's administration and should not be tampered with under any guise by government"
The JUSUN chairman recalled steps taken so far, to address the cut in the allowances of its members through a letter written in November, 2020 and later wrote a reminder in December, 2020 to the Head of Service as well as National Secretariat of the union and Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment
"We held a Congress in February, 2021 where we agreed to issue the State Government 21days ultimatum to embark on strike, if government fails to resolve the issue,"
"We were invited for a meeting by government before the expiration of the ultimatum but nationwide judicial workers strike which began on April 6 but affected the negotiation. We eventually returned to negotiation table on June 15, 2021 when nationwide strike was suspended . We resumed negotiation with government and demanded for implementation of full salary scale for judiciary workers which is yet to be met", he explained
Let Jusun continue their strike until the issue is resolved.Ogun state gratuities for pentioner is yet to be paid.People are suffering & dying. Let the State Government do something about it as quick as possible. Many people have retired about 8,7,
