Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission OGSIEC has charged its Election Returning Officers recently trained for the July 24 councils'poll, to let the will of the people prevail at the poll
Chairman of the commission, Mr.Babatunde Osibodu gave the charge during his inspection visit to the training sessions of the Returning Officers held across the state at its various venues which included Lisabi Grammar School, Abeokuta, St.Michael Primary School, Ota, Yewa College, Ilaro, Ijebu Mushin College, Ijebu-Ode and Remo Secondary School, Sagamu
His words," We want your watchword to be integrity, probity, accountability, we want you to be people of good standing because what ever you do, reflect upon us .We know you will not let us down and I want to assure you also that we will not let you down, what is due to you, we will make sure you get. We must ensure that the will of the people prevail. God will help us all as we do this"
Osibodu enjoined them to avoid act capable of putting the commission in bad light by ensuring good conduct during and after the election excercise, saying they have been carefully selected for the assignment
" I have no doubt about you, all but all the same I have to come and get to know you all better, so that you will know we mean business . Every body here today has been carefully selected for this assignment,we have seen your credentials and we know that you do the job", he added
The OGSIEC boss urged the Electoral Officers to make good use of the training, while advising them to restrain themselves from places and friends that may stir suspicion, as they must be seen to be neutral.
The Commission is expected this Monday, July 12, to release the list of qualified candidates from the 18 political parties contesting the poll for the Chairmanship and councillorship positions in the state's 20 Local Government Areas
