Anxiety has started gripping shortlisted applicants for the Ogun TEACh scheme who are still waiting anxiously for their letters of appointment, more than a month after the final selection process was conducted
Edu-Biznews gathered that the Ogun State Ministry of Education,Science and Technology are still compiling the results of its oral interview conducted last 10th of June for the shortlisted applicants
Applicants numbering 18,000 had applied for the 5,000 vacancies in the teaching service for both primary and secondary schools in the state
The applicants sat for the Computer Based Test(CBT) on 11th of May conducted simultenously in four centres in Abeokuta,Sagamu,Ijebu-Ode and Ilaro
The Dapo Abiodun led administration had intiated the two-year voluntary teaching scheme as a stop gab measure to address the acute shortage of teachers in the public primary and secondary schools in the state
But the applicants are yet to report to duty because of the ongoing compilation of the results, a situation the existing teachers described as worrisome given the workload on them
State Secretary of the Nigeria of Teachers(NUT),Comrade Samson Oyelere when contacted, says the delay in the recruitement of teachers is disturbing, saying the stress is becoming very unbearable for the teachers in the classrooms
Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools(ASUSS),Comrade Akeem Lasisi however asked the State Government to ensure the recruitment of the teachers before the commencement of the next academic session for the 2021/2022 academic session ,to reduce the stress being experienced by the teachers in the outgoing academic session of 2020/2021
