Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu-Ajose can now run degree courses, following the Ogun State House of Assembly's passage of the bill changing the nomenclature of the Institution to the Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology
Chairman of the House Committee on Education,Science and Technology, Hon.Ademuyiwa Adeyemi who sponsored the bill in a recent chat with Edu-Biznews, revealed that Institution had been empowered to run degree courses in affiliation with the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye
According to him, the College can now run academic programmes in social sciences and technology based courses leading to the award of Bachelor of Technology BTECH in addition to Nigerian Certificate in Education, NCE
The house last 1st of July passed the bill to change the name of the Institution which had been having problem of getting financial support in form of external grants, because of the similarity of the name with the Tai Solarin University of Education Ijagun-Ijebu-Ode
The college was also faced with the major problem of low patronage because of reducing number of students seeking admission to study NCE programmes in the country
