Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission,(OGSIEC) begins screening of the Chairmanship candidates for the July 24 councils'poll in the state
Chairman of the commission, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu who announced the screening in a statement made available to Edu-Biznews, asked all Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates to report at the Commission’s Headquarters from 10:00 am for the screening, as the exercise would hold between Tuesday, 15th June and Wednesday 16th of June, 2021
The screening was shifted to this Tuesday, because of the public holiday on Monday (June 14), declared by the Federal Government to celebrate June 12 Democracy Day in Nigeria
The electoral agency last Friday,June 11, concluded its screening of most of the Councillorship Candidates contesting the poll
The Commission however asked the remaining councillorship candidates from all the political parties yet to be screened, because of their inability to get their forms sworn, to appear for the excercise this Tuesday, 15 th of June at the commission's Office at Oke-Ilewo, Ibara area in Abeokuta
Commenting on the exercise, two of the candidates,Emmanuel Adeboye from Ado-Odo/ Ota and Laide Atinuke from Yewa South expressed satisfaction with the screening, promising to put all that was said to use in their quest to represent their people at the grassroots.
Candidates from 18 political parties are expected to participate in the screening being conducted by the electoral agency
